I was born and raised in Sparks, NV. In my youth, I earned my Eagle Scout and was the Valedictorian of my graduating class at Edward C. Reed High School. I received my BS degree in Zoology from BYU, then left to serve a two-year mission in Zurich, Switzerland, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am still fluent in German.
After my mission, I attended the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine, where I received my Doctor of Medicine degree. I completed my Family Practice residency at Travis AFB’s David Grant Med Center. I served four years as an Air Force physician at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington, and finished my service with the rank of Major.
In 1996, I started my career as a Family Physician in Sparks where I then became the founder of Sierra Nevada Family Medicine and Wellness Center in 2000. By 2022, I left the practice to serve as mission president in Detroit, Michigan, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 2025, I returned home and rejoined Sierra Nevada Family Medicine to practice part time alongside Dr. Spencer Johnson.
I have always loved being a Family Physician and also offering people a holistic approach to medicine if they desired. I have had decades of training and experience in both fields.
